Don & Nancy's

Home Up

I bought this car in 1971 from my Uncle while on vacation in Arco , Idaho right after high school graduation. My family continued their vacation and I took the car and headed back across Nevada to our home in Santa Clara , California . It had fiberglass belted tires and one of them delaminated on the trip. Since then I can’t remember how many sets of tires have been on the car but I can say that it has gone in excess of 260,000 miles.

Now the car looks like it did when I first got it but maybe a little better. All the chrome is correct. The color is Marina Blue although with the clear coat and modern paints looks a little deeper in color than it did. The interior looks as it did when it was new.

Mechanically...well now that's different. While the body and interior appears to be vintage 1066, the parts that make it go are all vintage 2003. Under the hood there's a new crate RAM Jet 350 with fuel injection and 350 horsepower followed by a 700R4 four speed automatic transmission driving a 373 limited slip rear end. The suspension parts are all new with a couple of improvements such as front power disk brakes, frame connectors, and three leaf rear springs.

Here is a picture of me in the Galapagos Islands. A friend of mine from college thought it funny that I had this entire website and there wasn't a picture of me in it anywhere. Here you go Rich...
